We are currently seeking an In-House Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team. The In-House Legal Counsel will provide legal advice, draft and negotiate agreements, support litigation management and manage licensing and compliance across all of NORR’s offices globally. A general understanding of consulting responsibilities, construction law and insurance would be considered an asset for this role.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Ensures that all prime contracts with our clients and subconsultant agreements are fair and are reviewed, edited, and signed by all parties in a timely manner.
- Drafts, reviews, and negotiates legal agreements to minimize NORR’s contractual risk.
- Assists in managing professional compliance and licensing obligations for NORR.
- Participates in developing internal guidelines, toolkits, and presenting to internal stakeholders regarding various legal and business issues.
- Supports the Director in managing the company’s litigation.
- Reviews RFPs and proposals to ensure compliance with terms, conditions and company policies.
**Required Skills**:
- Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Must have excellent problem-solving skills through drawing on a number of known options to solve problems, present alternatives, and to offer solutions. Demonstrated ability to present creative solutions
- Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiating skills are essential
- Must have computer skills to produce reports, documents, and presentations. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Post-secondary education is an asset
- Proven ability to efficiently manage a large volume of contracts
- A background in architecture or engineering is an asset
Required Experience
- Must have an LL.B or J.D.
- 1-5 years’ experience in private practice or in-house counsel.
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
