We are currently looking for an **Electrical/Instrumentation Maintenance Supervisor** at our Strathcona Paper facilities located in Napanee, Ontario.
**JOB SUMMARY**
The Electrical/Instrumentation Maintenance Supervisor manages the preventive and responsive maintenance programs for all electrical equipment used in Strathcona' s production and manufacturing operations. This job is accountable for the effectiveness and efficiency of SPC’s maintenance services and for meeting both internal and industry standards.
**Responsibilities**:
- Develop internal standards for efficiency of maintenance work (e.g., how long, how much cost, outcomes). Monitor the quality and efficiency of maintenance program to ensure that it meets all reasonable and prudent commercial standards and applicable legislation.
- Assign work order requests from all areas of the Mill to E&I maintenance technicians, monitor their status and provide progress reports on a regular basis to originators, if requested.
- Identify maintenance activities and new equipment required to improve the efficiency of Mill operations. Develop new or modified procedures and, in conjunction with other departments, implement approved activities. Maintain a substation and switchgear maintenance program as well as an infra-red switchgear scanning program.
- Ensures that all equipment, machinery and material used meet necessary regulations and legislative requirements for safety and environment guidelines and other applicable legislation. Ensures that employees follow safety procedures, legislation and guidelines set by government and the Company. Failure to meet standards could result in risk to employee safety, legal charges and fines, environmental impacts and financial consequences.Ensures that all planned and unplanned shutdowns of the plant are used effectively to minimize loss of time and inefficient use of human resources. This is accomplished through careful planning, coordination with other departments and monitoring the maintenance activities.
- Manage maintenance programs by planning for the projects, allocating the appropriate complement of trained and skilled personnel and monitoring the status of work done. Preventative maintenance programs are based on mill requests, ISO guidelines, equipment history, production results and regular inspection reports.
SCOPE
** OF RESPONSIBILITY**:
- Reports to the General Services Manager of Strathcona Paper Company Limited.
- Directly supervises approximately 8 hourly employees.
Qualifications:
**What you will need to succeed**:
- Degree or diploma in electrical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience including 5 years supervisory experience, preferably in paper manufacturing.
- Familiarity with applicable legislation and regulation including Ontario Health & Safety Act, Ontario Electrical Safety Code and the Environmental Protection Act.
- Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment.
- Demonstrated ability in taking ownership and initiative of responsibilities and executing them to meet business needs and deliverables.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills to build relationships and engage with team members. An eye towards continuous process improvement, including the ability to innovate and simplify processes with a positive attitude
