Reporting to the Manager, Security, Emergency Preparedness and Parking Services, this position is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Security Services, Parking Services, Switchboard, External Patient Transportation, Fleet Services and Security Infrastructure, in order to meet the needs of patients, staff, visitors and students.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Supervises the day to day operation of Security Services, Parking Services, Switchboard, External Patient Transportation, Fleet Services and Security Infrastructure.
- Set team goals and objectives and assign them to staff in order to meet departmental objectives e.g. support the recovery philosophy of the Hospital.
- Coach, facilitate, solve work problems and participate in the work of the team as required.
- Develops and maintains positive labour relations, and effective relationships with other program/departmental managers and other internal and external stakeholder groups.
- Provides information to the Manager regarding team and individual performance and escalate issues of concern.
- Communicates assignments, special events and deadlines to the team and follow up to ensure the needs of customers are met.
- Counsels employees on behavior and encourage the team and individuals to continually improve their skills and performance.
- Relay requests for resources and supplies to the Manager.
- Orient, train and prepare new staff and Security Officers.
- Conducts performance appraisals and participates in the performance management process
- Directs Security staff during emergency incidents.
- Effectively respond to Security related service and emergency calls.
- Prepares, update and implement security policies and procedures with the Manager’s approval.
- Enforces local by-laws on hospital premises.
- Supervises the inspection of fire life safety equipment as required.
- Complies with safe working practices and support maintaining a safe working environment.
- Assists in hospital Security investigations.
- Participates in corporate committees as required.
- Promotes awareness of the Fire Safety plan, and coordinate the testing of the fire safety plan, through the execution of mock codes within the hospital.
- Ensures that existing physical security and emergency equipment and supplies e.g. locks, lighting, fences are maintained in good working order.
- Ensures supplies are stocked and recorded as required.
- Performs the role of Security Systems Administrator to facilitate programming changes, report configurations / run reports, provide staff training, incorporate enhancements into procedures and interface between the third-party service provider and the Hospital.
- Provides the Manager with necessary data and recommendations to maintain and improve the efficiency and service of the Department.
- Assists in developing safety plans for employees in the absence of the
- Recognizes and report patient, staff, and environmental safety issues, and identify and implement preventive and corrective actions
- Able to work flexible hours to meet unpredictable timelines and to respond effectively to project and/or emergency requirements.
- Must be available on an on-call basis during off-duty hours if the Manager is not available.
- Qualifications Required and Preferred- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Protection, Security and Investigations College Diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Security Guard or Private Investigator’s License required
- Valid IAHSS Healthcare Security Supervisor Certification required
- Valid G Class Ontario Drivers License required
- CPR-Health Care Provider (HCP)required
- NFPA 3000 Certification preferred
- Completion of Incident Management System 100 (Emergency Management Ontario) preferred
- EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum three years of demonstrated leadership experience in Security and Emergency Preparedness
- Experience in healthcare required
- Experience leading both unionized staff and contract personnel preferred
- Experience in client transportation logistics, switchboard operations, and complex technical security systems preferred

- Analytical / critical thinking skills in order to resolve conflict and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, in support of the recovery philosophy of the Hospital and to support the management of emergencies
- Strong organizational and time management skills, able to multi-task
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including tact and diplomacy
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Working knowledge of Senstar Symphony Client video management software preferred
- Working knowledge of Perspective Incident and Inves
