**Job Posting (Casual)**

We are currently seeking Casual Child Care and Youth Support Staff for the Henderson Sweetman Youth Centre located at the Shearwater H&R MFRC. These employees provide a safe, healthy and supportive learning environment for children and youth of military families, in compliance with the philosophies and guidelines of the Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Centre. This employee will deliver quality indoor and outdoor programs/activities that promote social, physical, cognitive and emotional development in children and youth. It is important that the employee is able to interact and engage with children and youth from the ages of 8 to 18 years on their level, by sitting with them, playing games, doing art activities, etc.

**The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following**:

- Ability to work at both the Shearwater Site;
- Ability to connect with children and youth from 8-18 years;
- Ability to be responsive and supportive to families;
- Ability to work as part of a team;
- Ability to lift 50 pounds; and
- Willingness to learn new skills and openness to receive feedback.

**Qualifications**
- Experience working with children and/or youth 8 to 18 years in a child care and/or youth program setting; experience delivering child and/or youth programming;
**OR**
- Working towards a NS Classification in Early Childhood Education; experience working with children ages 3 months-5 years in a licensed childcare facility; experience working with parents and as part of a team in a licensed childcare facility; and/or working towards a Child & Youth degree or diploma

**Job Type**: Casual - average of 12 hours per week,

**Start Date**: ASAP

**Starting Salary**: $14.50/hour plus 4% vacation pay
