Pasto’s Grill is an established, family-operated, chic restaurant/bistro located in south-west London, Ontario. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sets up stations according to restaurant guidelines
- Prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
- Follows recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications as set by the establishment
- Restocks all items as needed throughout the shift
- Cleans and maintains station in practicing good safety, sanitation and organizational skills
- Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in station
- Assists with the cleaning, sanitation and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers and all storage areas
- Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by the Chef or Kitchen Manager at any time
- Washes, peels, cuts vegetables, trims fat and bones from meat, as well as prepare pork, ham, steak, poultry, game birds and fish for cooking or grilling
- Measures and weighs ingredients to be added to dishes
- Cleans and maintains work area, kitchen, pots, pans, utensils, implements, equipment and all storage areas
- Check to ensure that refrigerators, freezers, ovens and stoves remain at appropriate temperature.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years cooking experience in a fast-paced restaurant is an asset
- Culinary diploma/degree is an asset
- Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
- Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
- English language and professional communication skills are required
- Ability to take direction
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated and organized
- Commitment to quality service, and food and beverage knowledge
- Ability to spend 100% of time standing
- Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat and water
- Ability to push or pull 50 lbs and lift 35 lbs regularly
- Must be able to speak, read and understand basic cooking direction
- Must be able to hear with 100% accuracy with correction and must be able to see 20/20 vision with correction.
