**PURPOSE OF POSITION**:

- Under the direction of the Director, OPHRB and as a member of the Team, the Psychological Health and Safety Advisor provides advice to the Director of the OPHRB and the Management Team and liaises with PSAC staff and staff unions to promote psychological health and safety in the organization. As an integral member of the Oppression Prevention and Human Rights Bureau, the Psychological Health and Safety Advisor will guide and support the organization in successfully implementing and maintaining the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace in collaboration with the Human Resources branch, the AEC, management and will liaise with staff unions to promote overall well-being using an equity lens as well as promote worker’s psychological health and preventing psychological harm due to workplace factors. The Advisor will develop and deliver evidence-based support and solutions that foster positive workplace mental health and psychological safety that is trauma-informed.- The Advisor will advise and assist the Director and Management Team regarding human resources issues as they may intersect with the Employer’s obligations regarding human rights, psychological safety and wellness. The Advisor may provide advice on psychological safety and wellness to the Director and the Management Team regarding staffing, policy development, collective bargaining, workplace assessment and dispute resolution in accordance with numerous collective agreements, policies and across all provincial, territorial and federal legislations.**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**_Education/Experience_**:

- Professional certification or degree in human resources, occupational health and safety, public health, psychology, social work, nursing or other mental health related field;
- Current Professional Registration (registered and in good standing) within Canada;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
- Experience working in a hospital, health care or Indigenous healing centre is an asset;
- Experience in facilitating and/or developing and implementing health and safety management programs and mental health strategies;
- Experience in working in a unionized environment;
- Experience providing advice to management regarding human rights and mental health issues;
- Experience with Indigenous healing traditions and non-Eurocentric healing practices is an asset;
- Experience in trauma-informed approaches, anti-racist and intersectional feminist practices is essential;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

**_Knowledge_**:

- Knowledge of the National Standard on Psychological Health and Safety;
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations, as well as Occupational Health and Safety management systems;
- Knowledge of issues related to human rights and equity including disability; Indigenous peoples; the diverse racially visible communities; two spirit, lesbian/ gay / bisexual and transgender, non-binary, queer + persons, including how these issues relate to gender within the specific communities.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French is essential;
- Effective interpersonal skills; dependability and reliability and flexibility;
- Second language skills as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) level indicated above.
