Position Summary:
Mold-Masters is looking for a Process Technician (Injection Molding) to join our team in Georgetown, ON. The process technician will be responsible for set up and operation of injection molds and injection molding machines. In this role, the Injection Molding Process Technician is responsible for optimizing and troubleshooting injection systems with respect to quality and productivity. This includes verifying the accuracy of the manufactured components against the engineering drawings by measuring dimensions using precision measuring equipment and standard tests, as well as identifying areas of improvement to increase productivity of the mold. The Injection Molding Process Technician will lead continuous improvement initiatives and manufacturing processes to improve the testing processes internally as well as at customer sites.

What you'll Do:

- Set up and operate injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment to mold products from thermoplastic materials;
- Install molds in the injection molding machine, setup the mold (cooling, mold opening, ejection) and initiate the start up process (material drying, system heating;
- Setting and optimizing machine controls, regulating molding temperature, volume of plastic, molding pressure and time, according to knowledge of plastics and molding procedures;
- Conduct multiple inspections (resistance, visual) on first off pieces to verify compliance with customer specifications;
- Responsible for changing molds and completing set ups successfully;
- Review technical inquiries of customers to recommend possible solutions related to the operation or maintenance of systems;
- Completing documentation and test logs and reports which contain the optimal setup and processing conditions as a guide for the customer when they run the mold. Documenting mold or process issues in a test log;
- Document and record dimensions of the finished piece on SPC chart, to ensure alignment with customer specifications;
- Conduct minor preventative machine maintenance and service procedures as scheduled;
- Assemble/Fit mold and hot runner components (simple and complex) for customers and in house requirements;
- Conduct minor maintenance and assembly of injection molds as required;
- Troubleshooting and repair of any auxiliary equipment issues as required;
- Ensure tasks are completed in accordance with specified run times;
- Determine and report malfunctions to the appropriate parties;
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and area and conduct minor preventative maintenance procedures;
- Make recommendations for productivity and/or method improvements;
- Ensure ISO guidelines are followed; follow Job Instruction Sheets and Tag Procedures etc.

Required Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 5+ years related experience
- Experience with Statistical Process Control and Design of Experiment is required.
- Good understanding of dryers, cooling systems, and other surrounding auxiliary equipment
- Strong troubleshooting ability, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, and excellent organizational skills are required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety policy and procedures, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to operate the machinery with efficiency to produce accurate parts.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Millwright experience would be considered an asset
- Co-Injection/multi-component injection molding experience is considered an asset
- Ability to multitask while organizing daily work schedules
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Strong inter-personal skills
