Star Seedlings Family and Childcare Centre in **Guelph** is seeking a Childcare Worker for our beautiful preschool playroom. Potential applicants should be familiar with **Waldorf** education or be eager to learn this **unique** approach to education of the very young child.

Our curriculum is designed to care for children through **individual interactions**, careful **attention** to their physical, social, and emotional needs, and by providing stability through **consistency**. As play is the foundation for all learning, children engage **in self-directed play** both indoors and during our extended outdoor play periods

At Star Seedlings, we create an environment where children are at the **centre **of everything we do. Our program offers a lower child to staff ratio, supporting sufficient time to complete our duties while allowing many opportunities to build **relationships** with the children in our care. Star Seedlings is **screen and electronics free**, with a unique and refreshing approach to observation and documentation of learning.

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare the environment and activities in our _screen-free & electronics-free_ classrooms
- Provide physical care, and emotional support children.
- Assist in classroom management using positive and age-appropriate approaches.
- Maintain high health, safety and supervision standards indoors, in the bathroom, during transitions, and outside.
- Communicate with colleagues & parents concerning classroom observations.
- Participate in parent workshops, seasonal festivals and outreach events.

Rate of Pay: 19.00 per hour plus wage enhancement

**Qualifications**
- Experience with children in an early childhood setting
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certificate
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Knowledge of Waldorf Early Childhood pedagogy or a willingness to learn
- Strong communication skills

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
