**Position Description**:
SickKids is recognized as one of the world's foremost paediatric health-care institutions and is Canada's leading centre dedicated to advancing children's health. Linked to our ambitious Mental Health Strategy and within the Brain and Mental Health Program, the Department of Psychiatry is responding to unprecedented growth in mental health needs across the many pediatric populations we serve.

As a member of the Acute Care Psychiatry Service, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides direct care to children/youth and support mental health care within the Emergency Department and across the hospital. The team also provides direct support to prevent agitation and aggression for at-risk patients of the hospital.

**Here's What You'll Get To Do**
- Work as part of the Acute Care Psychiatry Services on call to support emergency department assessments and psychiatry consults to inpatient units across the hospital.
- Triage referrals and consult requests for Psychiatry to most appropriate services; communicate with referring teams/services.
- Provide support and direction in the prevention of behavioural escalations in children and youth; respond to Code White situations with patients to ensure the safety of the patient, family, and care team.
- Develop and support plans of care in collaboration with the child/family and the multidisciplinary team
- When appropriate, provide therapeutic engagement/supervision to patients experiencing acute health and mental health issues.
- Support patient and family through admission inclusive of situational crisis.
- Support the inpatient mental health team as needed.

**Here's What You'll Need**
- Certified Child and Youth Counsellor Diploma from a community college with a Baccalaureate degree in a related field preferred.
- Professional member of the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counsellors (OACYC) is preferred.
- Broad experience in mental health and eating disorders services for children and adolescents is required.
- Experience working with adolescents in acute mental health settings an asset.
- Understanding of the issues of health equity, anti-black racism, diversity, and inclusion in the context of health service delivery.
- Experience and training in non-violent crisis prevention and intervention an asset.
- Experience with principles of DBT and CBT in clinical practice an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with patients, families.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team and to take initiative when appropriate.
- Strong ability to lead and facilitate team processes.
- Working knowledge of available community resources to support patient and family needs.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to work in a dynamic fast paced healthcare environment where respect, accountability and transparency are highly valued aspects of the team environment.
- Demonstrate commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
- Demonstrated proficiency is using electronic healthcare platforms such as Epic and Office 365.

**Employment Type**: 0.2-0.4 FTE, Part-Time, Permanent
