**The Opportunity**:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting to fill the permanent full-time position of Legislative Services Board Clerk - Client Service Support. The LGS Board Clerk - Client Service Support is responsible for advanced case management and secretariat support associated with the appeal functions for the Central Alberta Regional Assessment Review Board (RARB); the Red Deer Subdivision & Development Appeal Board (SDAB); the Red Deer Appeal & Review Board (RDA&RB) and the Intermunicipal Subdivision & Development Appeal Board (ISDAB).

This position has the responsibility of the ‘designated officer’ under the MGA as delegated by the City Clerk and may be referenced as the Clerk of any of the appeal boards. This position works closely with the Appeals Coordinator to monitor and analyze activity levels of the boards and create consistencies (where possible) among the Boards. Additionally, appointed members of the Boards depend on this position for guidance on procedures and technical matters that frequently arise.
- Legal Assistant Diploma or related field
- Certificate in Tribunal Administrative Justice plus a minimum of one year experience with administrative tribunals as either a member or administrator
- Must hold (or be qualified to hold) Commissioner for Oaths appointment.
- Work independently with a high standard of thoroughness, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Manage a heavy workload, adjusting priorities within a quasi-judicial or other regulated environment.
- Sound working knowledge of legislative interpretation, administrative law and natural justice principles and practices.
- Strong facilitation skills to ensure good governance practices and a sound decision rendering process.
- Analytic and logical reasoning skills
- Requires excellent customer service and public relations skills.
- Proven excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Advanced keyboarding skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Meeting management including agenda preparation, documentation of reports, minute taking.
- Incumbent must have:

- Demonstrated proficiency at working independently using initiative to prioritize responsibilities and workload efficiently.
- Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement, manage a variety of tasks at the same time and meet deadlines consistently.
- Ability to accurately select pertinent statements from discussions at hearings and deliberations to facilitate the rendering of decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to strictly maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and courteously and to provide quality customer service when dealing with elected City officials, senior management, staff, volunteers, media and the general public.
- Proven ability to recognize, understand and contribute to team goals and objectives.

**Remuneration**:
$33.38 to $35.14 per hour

**Hours of Work**:
75 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday. Will be required to attend hearings on a scheduled basis during non-regular business hours (evenings and weekends).
