This is an exciting opportunity to join a diverse portfolio supporting multiple programs Our newly opened Psychiatric Emergency Supports in the central zone at the Red Deer Regional Hospital is looking for individuals passionate about supporting clients and their families through moderate to severe addictions and mental health treatment streams. Reporting to the Manager, or designate, this position will provide one-to-one support to clients and families for those presenting with addiction and/or mental health concerns, according to the client’s individual service plan. Using a client-centered approach, service will be provided within the hospital setting, providing support and assistance to promote higher functioning, including social, physical, and emotional well-being, while fostering self-determination and independence. You will demonstrate the ability to take initiative, work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and have exemplary communication and conflict resolution skills. As you are working within a hospital setting, at times, you may be asked to support within the larger department when time permits. Multisite to iRed Deer Protective Safe House, Step Up Step Down, and Unit 39 for cross training and patient support as interested. This position will support individuals across the lifespan from children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. A flexible mindset, innovation, and growth orientation is required for this position.

Description:
As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner. In this position, you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff. You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of Grade 12. Completion of Health Care Aide or Mental Health Aide Certificate or equivalent.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Two years' experience working with the vulnerable population is required for this population.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Experience working with the AHS addiction and mental health teams is considered an asset. Connect care experience considered an asset. NVCI or equivalent considered an asset.
