**Dietary Aide**

**Schedule Rotation**:Every other Saturday 4-7 pm & Sunday 4-7 pm

**Permanent Part-Time**

**< 15 hours/week**

Under the general direction of the Director of Food & Nutrition Services, serves breakfast, lunch, and supper and/or assists in the preparation and processing of meals as required. Maintains a clean kitchen environment.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Dishes and serves meals and snacks & beverages as per diet order including those for special diets.
- Records shortage or leftovers on production sheets.
- Restocks kitchen, serveries and recreation fridges as required with items from storage.
- Measures and records temperatures of fridges, freezers and especially food before service.
- Transports food carts to and from food service areas as required.
- Sets Dining Room tables.
- Washes dishes, pots, pans, food carts and floors.
- Removes garbage and recycling.
- Maintains all kitchen areas to standard of cleanliness as required by Public Health Standards.
- Ensures that the standards and laws of Kashruth are maintained.
- Ensures proper use and care of equipment.
- Ensures the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of the residents.
- Performs any other duties as required that are necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the residents, staff, volunteers and visitors and the efficient operation of the Home.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to follow schedules of daily operation
- Current Safe Food Handler’s Certificate (can be done online)
- Food Services Worker Certificate (required for permanent role)
- General knowledge of methods of food and meal preparation as required by the Food & Nutrition Services Department.
- Able to work both with direction and independently, and co-operate with colleagues, supervisor, and members of other departments
- Demonstrates safe and proper lifting techniques of food supplies and kitchen utensils/equipment
- A neat, groomed appearance and punctuality are essential for this position.
- Prior Food Services experience within a Long-Term Care setting is considered an asset
- Proficient in English reading, writing, speaking and oral comprehension
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and frequently lift 20lbs
- Able to respect and follow the proper lines of authority when reporting events or handling disputes while utilizing process of appeal if necessary
