The School of Social Work offers a Diploma in Social Work and a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). The School of Social Work focuses on the ways social, environmental, and economic issues interrelate, and how we all fit into the larger community. Sustainability and social work practice with Indigenous peoples are core to our program. All students take field education courses which support the development of their professional practice skills through the integration of theory with practice. Upon graduation, our grads are prepared to work in a diverse range of health, mental health, child and family, community, and human service settings.

The Field Education Facilitator is the primary contact for both the educational and administrative responsibilities of the field education program within the School of Social Work. You will be expected to demonstrate excellence in professional practice that is consistent with the CASW code of ethics and ACSW standards of practice. The school is seeking faculty with a proven commitment to advancing social work education, leadership, and ethical social work practice.

This role involves maintaining and expanding the field education program, including the development, co-ordination, administration, maintenance, monitoring, and evaluation of field practicums. Responsibilities include creating and implementing strategies for community partner recruitment and retention by supporting field education stakeholders, managing crises, preparing field education documents, conducting field orientation workshops, and maintaining records in order to secure a variety of field practicums for the Diploma and Bachelor of Social Work programs. This position requires someone with strong organizational and leadership skills and the initiative and innovation to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.

You will hold a Master of Social Work degree and be registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers. You will be expected to demonstrate a passion for social work and field education for undergraduate students and have a willingness to engage in service to the School, Faculty, and University. You must have at least five years of social work practice after MSW, as well as experience with student supervision. Familiarity with community organizations in the Edmonton area is expected for this position. Experience in teaching at a post-secondary institution and in coordinating the field education process is preferred. The Professional Resource Faculty reports to the Department Chair.
