**We are currently looking for a Banquet Manager to lead our Banquet Team**

**Basic Purpose**:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Banquet Manager achieves service goals by ensuring smooth operations of banquet functions and employing leadership and managerial skills effectively.

**Major Responsibilities and Duties (to fulfill major purpose)**:

- Meet and exceed customer expectations by ensuring department provides superior service and teamwork
- Provide staff with skills training to provide value added service to customer
- Perform other duties as required to provide superior service and teamwork
- Organize all incoming functions
- Responsible for all inventory control
- Responsible for the accurate billing of all functions
- Maintain safe working conditions within department and hotel and ensure all employees follow safety rules and procedures
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position
- Maintain an favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious work environment
- Provide value added service by doing whatever reasonable and possible to meet or exceed customer expectations
- Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and supervisors
- Recruit, train, coach and mentor department associates
- Responsible for accurate payroll and effective department scheduling
- Perform other duties as required to provide superior service and teamwork
- Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position
- Project a favourable image of Silver Birch Hotels & Resorts to the public at all times

**Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required**:

- Energetic and flexible, able to work under pressure
- Excellent communication skills
- Previous customer service experience an asset
- Self-motivated, creative, capable of working in a team environment

**Working Conditions**:

- Standing, moving, bending
- Evening, weekend and holiday hours as required
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, standing, sitting, or walking for an extended period of time

**Experience, Training and Education (demonstrating requirements)**
- Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience in a Banquet Role
- Hotel and Restaurant Management Education is an asset.
- Knowledge of liquor control procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Self-planning skills sufficient to schedule, organize, and carry out work assignments according to established work plans, adjusting work schedules according to changing priorities.
- Manages workload independently, and works well in teams.
- Must display leadership skills and the ability to multi-task
- Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
