As the Chief Operating Officer and a key member of the executive team, you will define, develop and oversee the strategy and success of Cybera’s operations and services to advance research, education and innovation. You will be a balanced business and technical leader who ensures Cybera’s technology, services, and business objectives align with Cybera’s strategic goals. You enjoy new challenges within a constantly evolving technical environment while ensuring our programs and services remain member-focused, innovative and relevant. You welcome change and take the initiative to get things done. In addition, you will play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with our external partners including our members, industry partners and government stakeholders.

**We will ask you to**:

- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to Develop and strengthen Cybera-wide business strategies that maximize value proposition to the membership while building Cybera’s strength in operations
- Maximize, suggest improvements and plan for future growth in our member services and experiences
- Work collaboratively with other Research and Education Network partners to advance Cybera’s mission and vision
- As a senior leader, provide day-to-day leadership in a hybrid working environment while embracing and demonstrating our values
- Ensure Cybera is operating efficiently by designing and implementing business strategies, plans and projects that align with our current and future-facing goals
- Collaborate with Cybera’s VP Technology to advance strategic and operational opportunities related to network, security, development, data science and managed IT services
- Oversee Cybera’s enterprise risk management and develop policies and procedures as required
- Work closely with Cybera’s CFO to manage annual operating goals and capital investment opportunities

**Your professional tool-kit should be well stocked with**:

- 10+ years of business or technical management experience
- Proven experience as an Officer, Senior Executive, or relevant role such as VP Technology, CIO or CTO experience (desirable)
- Excellent people skills, business acumen and exemplary work ethic with the ability to have fun
- Deep knowledge of current and upcoming computing and technology
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate, delegate, motivate and mentor others
- Experience reporting to a board of directors (desirable)

**Compensation and Location**:
This position is based in either our Calgary or Edmonton office. Salary will be commensurate with experience. No relocation costs will be awarded.
