Selwyn Community Childcare Centre (SCCC) established in 1989 and is a not-for-profit community
- based childcare, located in Selwyn Elementary Public School, in east Toronto. Our children range in ages from ages 2.5 to 10 years, with an operating capacity of 108 children. Selwyn Community
Childcare Centre is a unionized workplace under CUPE Local 2484.

Selwyn Community Childcare Centre is currently seeking to hire a permanent/full time/split shift ECA who is dedicated, enthusiastic, and creative to join our School Age program.

**_Education/Qualification _**

Obtain certificate in Early Childhood Assistant

Experience in working with children

Current certificate in Standard First Aid and CPR with focus on child and infant CPR C (with

Epi-pen training)

Strong planning, time management, problem-solving and interpersonal skills

Possess a recent and clear criminal reference check, including the Vulnerable Sector check

**_Experience _**

Minimum of 1 years of on floor experience

Ability to work independently and make decisions regarding daily work based on the policies and procedures of Selwyn Community Childcare Centre

Working knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control in group settings

Experience in working with children with special needs and their families

Mature and responsible attitude towards work

**_Duties and Responsibilities_**

Collaborate with children and the RECE for planning and implementing of a high-quality program to meet children’s needs

Support the RECE in documentation of the program and daily observations

Set up an environment that is clean and organize

Ensure that the children’s learning environment is safe and conducive to creativity, cooperation and sharing

Assist children in expressing themselves by listening and responding with questions or comments that extend conversations

Use a variety of techniques including modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing

Follow licensing and ensure other regulatory requirements are met and maintained

Follow behaviour guidance policies established by the Selwyn Community Childcare Centre

Always participate as a positive role model in the classroom. This includes using appropriate language while in the classroom, participating in mealtimes, engaging in positive play activities and showing respect for materials, colleagues, parents and children

Must demonstrate the ability to support the social and emotional development of all the children

Support the RECE to set reasonable behaviour expectation for the children based on their development, consistent with best practice, current teaching and learning pedagogy and Selwyn

Community Childcare Centre’s philosophy and policies

Promote the Centre’s philosophy and communicate issues to parents in a positive, professional, and respectful manner by establishing a clear communication protocol

Maintain confidentiality of all information related to Selwyn Community Childcare Centre’s children, families, staff, Director, and the Board of Directors

Carry out the duties and responsibilities assigned to you by the Director and/or Board of Directors

Maintain regular attendance and punctuality

Always maintain a superior level of professionalism while working at Selwyn Community Childcare

Centre

Actively monitor Selwyn Community Childcare Centre’s indoor and outdoor spaces to keep a clean and safe environment

Work cooperatively and collaboratively as a member of a childcare centre team, facilitating a team environment through personal behaviour, work contributions, and the sharing of expertise and knowledge
