This LRT Expansion and Renewal Branch is responsible for planning, designing and delivering over $5.5 Billion of LRT infrastructure and expansion capital projects, including transit centres and LRT stations along the existing and future LRT lines, and renewal work for both. The Branch makes this work a reality through ongoing stakeholder engagement and by providing project management and technical services. This work is enhanced by its knowledge and relationships with corporate business partners, industry and other stakeholders.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, this position engages in varying, complex and dynamic assignments and works independently on behalf of the Branch Manager and Leadership Team on assignments that have varying degrees of political impact, confidentiality, and stakeholder and/or Council sensitivities.

As the Strategic Coordinator in the LRT Expansion and Renewal Branch and supported by a Project Coordinator, you will be leading projects in terms of identifying issues, planning, implementing and evaluating expected outcomes. This position interacts with all levels of the Corporation and/or external stakeholders.

Your duties will include:

- Direct involvement in strategic planning, annual and long range budget forecasts
- Provide leadership, direction and coordination of strategic planning functions including: Branch business plans, briefings and presentations
- Develop, implement and manage strategic initiatives
- Review Council/Committee/City Leadership Team reports for content and completeness, edit and provide direction to staff in their preparation
- Provide leadership, research, analysis, monitoring and recommendations on a wide variety of issues primarily at the Branch level
- Represent the Branch on a wide variety of complex corporate and branch initiatives
- Conceptualize and lead a wide variety of assigned projects which are complex, confidential and/or politically sensitive
- Respond to ad-hoc requests for information, confidential advice and prepares ad hoc reports
- Make recommendations to improve the efficiency, economy and effectiveness of the Branch operations
- Provide strategic consultation, strategy development, and long term planning
- Work collaboratively across organizational lines, throughout the community, in municipal and industry partnerships and with other orders of government
- Liaise with internal and external business partners to determine and manage resource levels required to support LRT resource programs
- Lead Branch response to requests for information through the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) in partnership with the City’s FOIP office

**Qualifications**:

- Formal professional or technical designation in appropriate area of expertise
- Ability to work effectively with senior management positions in the Branch and City
- Proven ability to learn and adapt quickly in diverse areas such as political analysis, human resources, customer service, communications and project management
- Ability to effectively transfer ideas, concepts and information into effective and efficient strategies and plans
- Proven knowledge and experience in business strategic planning approaches and implementation
- Knowledge and experience in project management processes, project administration, and managing multiple projects and priorities
- Proven understanding and experience in the areas of business process improvement, business process mapping and business process management
- Advanced communication skills and excellent presentation skills
- Proven relationship building ability and skill in negotiation
- Future focused and proactive approach to work (systemic thinking)
- Ability to develop, implement and evaluate innovative plans and strategies
- Ability to influence key decision makers
- Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, initiative, and ability to work independently
- Advanced computer skills, including Google Applications (Mail; Calendar; Docs; Sheets; Slides and; Hangouts)
