**Service & Maintenance Technician**

A day in the life of a **Service & Maintenance Technician** is full of variety and countless ways to demonstrate your self-starter attitude — both around our main 100-acre property and at offsite growing locations.

Your morning begins with a team huddle, where you share each other’s tasks for the day and ensure you’re all on the same page. After the meeting, you head out to diagnose and repair a faulty injection pump. As you perform your checks to determine the issue, you use your well-rounded technical skills and methodical approach to solve the problems that arise.

Just as you determine the cause and plan for the repair, you receive an urgent call: there’s a breakdown on the planting line. As you rush over, you’re met with six frustrated workers waiting for you to fix the issue. With your ability to remain calm under pressure, you systematically diagnose the possible issues and efficiently find a fix.

With the planting team back up and running, you take a coffee break and catch up with a co-worker. Then it’s back to problem-solving as your cellphone lights up with service request tickets: the climate control hardware needs attention in the main greenhouse, and a tractor is out of commission. Each request presents a different set of challenges, especially when you need to drive to an offsite location without your full toolbox.

Throughout the day, you’ve balanced handling unexpected repairs, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring every task is completed promptly. And you’re ready to continue keeping operations running smoothly tomorrow

**Job Summary**:
As a **Service & Maintenance Technician **at Qualitree, you work closely with your team in a fast-paced environment, installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of stationary industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, and buildings. It’s essential to be able to function well in a team setting. On-the-job training is provided.

**What We Need From You**:

- Valid BC drivers license (Class 5)
- Welding experience is an asset
- Work experience in the horticulture industry would be an asset
- Post-secondary education/certification and/or experience as an Electrician, Mechanic (heavy duty or automotive), or Millwright is an asset
- Must possess great interpersonal skills and effective communication, both oral and written
- Computer proficiency
- Have a “can do” attitude

**Your Duties Will Include**:

- Perform maintenance inspections on company vehicles, tractors, forklifts and other equipment
- Inspect, install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as irrigation equipment, fans, conveyors, planting machines, generators, and all other greenhouse control systems
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
- Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
- Design and build machinery specific to our company
- Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment
- Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and equipment functions
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery and the company fleet of commercial and passenger vehicles
- Perform minor and major repairs of buildings and houses (i.e. redo flooring, fix plumbing, etc.)
- Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories
- Fabricate small tools/equipment to aid with production productivity improvements

**Working Conditions**:
This position reports directly to the Service & Maintenance Supervisor. You will work in a busy warehouse setting, as well as outdoors.
