The **Mechanical Estimator **must possess all of the attributes of the Junior Estimator while advancing techniques and productivity. They will be able to perform all of the Estimator duties with little to no supervision while advancing throughout the Intermediate role and responsibilities. He/she will be responsible for thoroughly reviewing all discipline documentations, and Front End Specifications including Division 1 for compiling a complete estimate while identifying all costs associated with the project. They will have the ability to converse with and influence outside agencies such as engineering firms, clients, suppliers & subcontractors in a professional manor to control the conversations and the direction of topic to gain a competitive edge. The Intermediate Estimator will identify and evaluate all risk items within the estimate pertaining to their discipline as well as identify and present all of the different resolutions for the problem at hand and isolate the most cost effective solution.

:
Read and Understand the Entire Project Scope, drawings and specifications.
Provide notes within Accubid that provide short relevant information related to the Entire Project Scope.
Prepare and complete an entire Bid, Yard, Process, Mechanical and HVAC for design build or to Bid to Spec projects.
Prepare and complete a Yard Estimate Breakdown (Yard to Civil spreadsheet).
Prepare and complete Field Labour, Incidental Labour, Indirect Labour, Equipment, Subcontracts and Quotes in Project Closeout.
Attend site visits for Bid Tenders and complete a site report.
Attend internal meetings.
In coordination meetings, provide information to other disciplines, clearly outline any risks, and work scope for others.
Raise RFI’s for review, compile RFI’s for each project and formally issue to the clients designated contact.
Review all addendums (and update your documents), sign off AFTER tender documents have been updated.
Prepare and complete the tender form, close the tender in an effective and timely manner.
Read and understand in detail the schedule and provide analysis and influence for the sequencing of all works packages to achieve the desired outcome.
Prepare and complete Cost Codes
Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
Maintain a professional image and demeanor with all employees, management executives and external contacts at all times.
Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external personnel
Self-motivated to learn while demonstrating a strong work ethic
Attention to detail, mathematical, analytical skills and accuracy
Work well under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for assigned tasks and tender closings.
Able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including technical, professional, and upper management.

**POSITION REQUIREMENTS**:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical engineering, or mechanical trade experience.
Ability to read and interpret building specifications, drawings and as-builds.
Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material and labour estimates.
Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to interpret job cost reports.
Ability to use cost-estimating software to prepare cost quotes and bids.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, etc.)
Proficient with shop drawings and specifications.
Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
Time management skills.
Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision.
Collaborative in dealing with fellow employees. The ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues.
Receptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances.
