**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role, you will:

- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research (e.g., marketing and social media efficacy, media scans, surveys) to inform evidence-based effective communication planning
- Research and suggest industry best practices (e.g., new tools, behavioural insights) for improved communication
- Lead and analyze ongoing evaluations of communication projects, emphasizing outcomes over outputs
- Design and administer a communication evaluation framework
- Manage branch data and incorporate data-driven insights into communication strategy using various tools
- Recommend new methods to track performance indicators and return on investment for communication activities
- Provide expert analysis and advice to senior management
- Create, edit, and design various materials to support evidence-based communication strategies

**How do I qualify?**:
**Communication and Interpersonal Skills**: You can demonstrate:

- an in-depth understanding of current communication trends, theories, principles, best practices, and professional standards
- superior writing and editing skills to produce high-quality communication materials within short time frames
- excellent presentation skills to articulate and present ideas to a wide range of audiences, including government officials
- communication, consultative, and interpersonal skills to provide recommendations and advice to staff at all levels
- relationship management skills with various teams, partners, stakeholders, and vendors both within and outside the organization

**Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking Skills**: You have the ability to:

- utilize data analytics to aid decision-making (e.g. data mining, exploratory and confirmatory data analysis, predictive and text analytics) by identifying opportunities, best practices, trends, and potential issues. Additionally, you can make recommendations and contribute to the development of communication programs
- gather, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and provide actionable insights to senior management and branch staff to support decision-making
- prioritize multiple projects and competing demands
- evaluate and report on the success or failure of communication plans and lessons learned

**Research and Analysis Skills**: You have the ability to:

- demonstrate strong research and analytical abilities to evaluate and utilize a wide range of information, including gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to identify trends
- conduct thorough research and analysis using diverse sources to accurately assess the environment
- use environmental and social media scanning and research methods to inform evidence-based strategic communication plans

**Strategic Planning Skills**:

- You have the ability to plan strategically, conduct strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analyses, develop communication plans, and make recommendations to senior officials
- You can demonstrate a thorough understanding of how contemporary communications trends and best practices can drive the transformation and modernization of branch services and processes
- You can demonstrate an understanding of policy development and organizational decision-making processes and how to incorporate strategic communications advice into planning
