Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.

The Manager of payroll is currently seeking a Temporary Full-Time Payroll Specialist. The purpose of the position is to provide administration of payroll processes, various complex reporting requirements generated through our payroll software, recommends process changes, and provides expertise in reviewing the day-to-day, weekly, and monthly activities of payroll functions.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Preparation and processing of biweekly payroll for over 1,200 employees by reviewing and ensuring accuracy of approved schedules
- Research and resolve coding and payroll discrepancies as applicable through various prepared reports
- Provides senior level support to the Assistant Manager, Payroll on monthly and annual remittances. Performs all general ledger payroll account reconciliations including the balance sheet payroll liability accounts, and reconciliation of the sub ledger reports to the general ledger for review by the Assistant Manager, Payroll
- Complete source remittances, third-party payroll remittances and reconciling deductions with third-party statements
- Complete all reporting requirements for pension plans including monthly financials for payroll and liaison with HRIS and Scheduling for annual reporting
- Works collaboratively with HR, reviewing HR entries which impact payroll on a planned timeline to maintain data integrity
- Research and respond to tax-related questions from the CRA. Calculate and enter tax balance adjustments as needed
- Working closely with Financial Services staff, Human Resources, Staff Scheduling, software provider, and other departments to maintain quality customer service
- Researches and responds to payroll inquiries from all levels of the organization and often exercises judgment and initiative in resolving issues and bringing them to the attention of the Assistant Manager, Payroll and Manager, Business Office as applicable

**REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS**:

- PCP certification or certification in progress and college diploma in a related field preferred
- Recent and related experience in a similar position, preferably in a hospital setting
- Demonstrated experience in accounting principles and processes; Public sector accounting standards
- Strong experience with computer software programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and other software programs that draw financial and statistical information for reporting; experience with QHR an asset

- Strong mathematical, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills; proven written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to adapt readily to change

- Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
