We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Technician specializing in Extractive Metallurgy to join our innovative team in Burnaby, Canada. In this role, you will conduct a wide variety of testing and analysis on base and precious metal ores, industrial minerals, and materials, contributing to our organization's cutting-edge research and development efforts.
- Perform moderate technological functions within laboratory or pilot plant operations, using an applied approach
- Design, develop, test, install, and operate equipment and systems for extractive metallurgy processes
- Conduct applied research and experimental testing on various materials
- Compile and analyze data, preparing comprehensive reports on findings
- Receive, inspect, sort, and label client samples with meticulous attention to detail
- Utilize laboratory equipment such as pipettes, burettes, side arm flasks, buchners, and pH meters
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment or components as needed
- Calibrate and set up equipment prior to analysis, ensuring accuracy and reliability
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment
- Adhere to all company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies
- Follow Quality system protocols and report any discrepancies to the Supervisor
- Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals and deadlines

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education (three-year diploma) in a Science-related program (Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering Technology, etc.) required; Chemical technician/technology diploma preferred
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in extractive metallurgy
- Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as pipettes, burettes, side arm flasks, buchners, and pH meters
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage high workloads
- Knowledge of base and precious metal ores, industrial minerals, and materials
- Understanding of extractive metallurgy processes and techniques
- Familiarity with health and safety protocols in laboratory settings
- Knowledge of quality control systems and procedures
- Physical dexterity for handling samples and various equipment
- Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely manner
- Willingness to work extended hours and shift work as required
- Flexibility to travel to other locations or client sites when necessary

**Additional Information** Salary**:$20.50 per hour
