**Job Title**:Settlement Counsellor** - **Settlement Services**

**Job Type**: Full-time, permanent (37.5 hours per week)

**Responsibilities**:
The Settlement Counsellor Worker performs all tasks as requested by the
Program Manager and collaborates with the Settlement Team to plan and implement appropriate client programming as well as any promotional activities.

**Qualifications**:

- Ability to work with diverse groups of people in a collaborative, culturally aware manner;
- Effective multitasking, priority setting and organization skills;
- Ability to speak Arabic or Tigrinya an asset;
- Ability to establish and maintain respectful, professional relationships;
- Ability to work independently, as a team and on a flexible work schedule;
- Sound judgement and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
- Knowledge of the immigrant/refugee settlement and integration process;
- Ability to adapt to new and challenging situations;
**Education and Experience**:

- Undergraduate degree in social sciences, humanities or similar is preferred;
- Experience working with diverse teams and Service Provider

Organizations;
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly immigrants and refugees;
- Additional language abilities considered an asset;
- Exceptional communication abilities; written, verbal and non-verbal;

- Standard computer skills necessary;
- Ability to work some flexible hours (occasional evening and weekend);
- Must have valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle;
- Must pass YWCA Security clearance;
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision;
**Required Licenses and/or certificates**:

- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid class 5 Saskatchewan drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle

**Remuneration**:$53, 581.00/Per Annum

**Duties**:

- Assess settlement needs of newcomers and assist in developing settlement plan;
- Life skills coaching related to adjusting to life in Canadian society, basic living skills;
- Assist clients in banking, budgeting and other life skills related to finances;
- Link clients to mandatory federal, provincial and community programs;
- Assist clients with interpretation and booking medical appointments;
- Statistical data collection and reporting;
- All other tasks as requested by Manager;
**Probation**: All YWCA Prince Albert positions contain a three-month probation period.

*All applicants must reside in Saskatchewan.

**Salary**: $53,581.00 per year
