**Job purpose**

The Accounting Clerk will provide financial and administrative support. The successful incumbent will be involved with accounts payable and accounts receivable, processing payments and reviewing general ledger accounts for accuracy and reconciliation. Key areas of responsibility will include processing entries on QuickBooks, Payroll and other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.

This role will report to the Finance Manager and will provide general administrative support to the management team members as needed.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Handle the accounting of bills and process payment, including Cheque Payments, Credit Card Payments, and Direct transfers.
- Collaborate with other departments to collect expenses promptly, ensuring accurate accounting and timely reporting.
- Reconcile credit card statements and hotel bills (e.g., matching rooms booked versus invoiced).
- Process employee expenses efficiently and accurately.
- Manage petty cash transactions in accordance with established policies.
- Generate monthly Program Activity and Finance Reports to support informed decision-making.
- Maintain general ledgers and financial statements to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
- Post journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare various statistical, financial, and accounting reports as required.
- Establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using both manual and computerized bookkeeping systems.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in accounting.
- Non-profit experience is considered an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Knowledge of using Accounting Software (QuickBooks).

**Additional Requirements**
- The Accounting Clerk will work out of an office environment and will be required to lift up to 20 lbs. Prolonged sitting is required.
- The Accounting Clerk will need to be flexible in the case of attending evening and/or weekend meetings and events as required.
- A valid Ontario driver's license (Class G), use of a vehicle and insurance with the ability to work in a variety of settings is an asset.
