Position Summary
Join our Occupational Health and Safety team where you will provide leadership over the Occupational Health team while leading the education and administration of the Medical Surveillance and Vaccination Program and ensure consistently high-quality, safe care for employees.
At Quinte Health, the Occupational Health and Safety team provides occupational health and safety services, attendance support, abilities services, and healthy workplace programming for all employees. The team works together to deliver compassionate, professional and respectful care. Quinte Health is currently seeking an Occupational Health Nurse Lead who will provide leadership, education, first aid and monitor and administer vaccination surveillance and protocols and participate in attendance support and abilities program services.
Required
- Undergraduate degree in a health related field required
- Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) specialist required or willing to obtain
- National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR) or equivalent membership in good standing preferred
- Regulated health professional association (e.g. Nursing, Kinesiology, Physiotherapy) membership in good standing required
- Minimum of 5 years of Short Term Disability experience preferred
- Experience in a healthcare unionized environment preferred
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Parklane software required
Duties
- Provide support, guidance and timely information relating to the attendance support and abilities program to all applicable stakeholders
- Administration and delivery of attendance support and abilities program including information gathering, adjudication of short term disability cases, timely communication, efficient file management, and flexibility in decision making
- Responsible for administering all Short Term Disability (STD) claims
- Refer cases for LTD benefit consideration and coordinate/assist with occupational and non occupational return to work cases, WSIB case management, and related communication
- Assesses functional abilities in conjunction with applicable treating healthcare practitioner(s), employee, manager, Occupational Health & Safety and Human Resources as applicable
- Plan, develop and facilitate return to work programs and processes
- Utilizes the existing claims documentation system (Parklane) to track claims management activities, identify required follow up and communication and generate statistical information to assist in identifying trends and support opportunities
- Assist in the development and delivery of education for managers, employees and any other identified stakeholders
- Work in conjunction with identified stakeholders (e.g. managers, HR) on attendance support program matters
- Provide feedback regarding case workload, process efficiency and customer service
- Decide on STD/LTD/WSIB case actions in collaboration with identified stakeholders including employees, managers, other Occupational Health and Safety team members, HR, unions, insurers and any other applicable stakeholder
- Escalate complex or contentious cases to Occupational Health Nurse Lead or Manager
- Recommendations and review of third party independent medical assessment services and reporting processes
- Gives input to Manager on program quality improvements based on gap analysis and trending information
