**Function & Overview**

Reporting to the Unit Manager - Health Services, the Health Services Instructor & Field Placement Specialist is responsible for teaching assigned courses and monitoring and supporting student placement opportunities with community partners for the Health Services Unit. The Health Service Instructor & Field Placement Specialist designs, develops, and revises course content, learning plans, student evaluations, ensures Indigenous content and teaching methodologies, creates a positive teaching and learning environment, and designs and delivers learning materials in a variety of formats.

**Duties**

The duties of the Health Services Instructor include, without limitation:
**Program Planning and Delivery**
- Preparing course activities, materials, and assignments;
- Preparing and delivering course content in-person, synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous (accessible at any time) formats;
- Designing and adapting course content and delivery to include Indigenous knowledge and methodologies;
- Enhancing educational delivery through the use of technology and use of a variety of teaching and learning strategies, including online learning;
- Coordinating small group discussions and activities;
- Coordinating and instructing clinical and lab deliveries;
- Designing, grading, and providing feedback for a variety of assessments and evaluations;
- Being available for student academic support as needed;
- Carrying out all duties in an online and/or blended (online and in-person) learning environment, as required by and in response to changes in the operating environment of SNP;
- Conforming to deadlines and reporting requirements;
- Preparing detailed monthly and quarterly reports of Unit work, to maintain institutional memory, update the Academic and Senior Leadership Teams, and inform the Governance Board; and drafting and submitting ad-hoc briefs and reports, as requested;
- Supporting program partnership agreements and relationships, as applicable;
- Contributing to and maintaining a supportive environment conducive to learning and employment with SNP;

**Field Placement Coordination**
- Coordinating and instructing student clinical placements;
- Working with community organizations and partners to facilitate student achievement of Clinical field placement learning outcomes;
- Supporting students in preparing for clinical field placements, including non-academic requirements;
- Preparing and delivering required placement materials, in both in-class and online formats;
- Supporting and monitoring students completing clinical field placements;
- Participating in on-site visits to support students and placement sites;

**Evaluation & Records**
- Completing and submitting student evaluations and assessments at required intervals as per the program schedule;
- Filing and tracking of all paperwork as it pertains to student files;
- Tracking student progress, and identifying and providing extra supports where needed;
- Referring students to Student Success Officer, as required;

**General Administration**
- Developing an approved annual work plan for the efficient and effective discharge of all duties;
- Participating in the Inter-Unit planning and delivery of student orientation, Annual Celebration, community, and other events;
- Adhering to all policies and processes, including conforming to deadlines and reporting requirements;
- Participating in staff, Board, ad hoc and ordinary committees, working groups, program advisory meetings, and staff training and information sessions, as required; and
- Other related duties, as required.

**Qualifications**

**Education and Experience**
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, or;
- Registered Practical Nurse with minimum 5 years experience working in the health care field;
- Engagement in ongoing and relevant professional development and ability to demonstrate knowledge of current practice and technology in education and the health services profession; and
- Prior teaching experience is preferred.

- Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on written expression (i.e., faultless spelling and grammar, and professional style);
- Sound interpersonal skills, including communication, negotiation, confidentiality and professional judgement;
- Demonstrated competencies in strategic thinking, organization, coordination, analysis, policy development, and change management;
- Ability to work under pressure and manage schedules, portfolios, and timelines, to meet demanding deadline
