Research Manager, Oncology

This position reports to the Principal Investigator.
This role will support the IMProving care and outcomes Across the Childhood Cancer Trajectory (IMPACCT) program.
A Research Manager is a professional that functions to operationalize and coordinate established protocols and combining overlapping projects. Specifically, the coordinator will be responsible for following program timelines, ensuring key milestones are met and reporting program progress to sponsors. A Research Manager is required to follow U of C ethics and internal protocols to ensure that research goals are met.
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
Research administration:
- Collaborate with principal investigators including providing data, editing draft manuscripts, and collation of research material. They will also manage correspondence with prospective journals
- Generation of Research proposals and Conjoint Ethics Board submissions that advance joint reconstruction research.
- Obtaining informed consent, recruiting patients, and ensuring appropriate and timely follow-up for research studies
- Confidential research data management
- Assist with manuscript preparation for publication
- Ensure that services meet the continuously changing needs of the department and the University
- Make recommendations to policy or procedural changes as needed
- Maintain established programs and procedures
- Coordinate and schedule research visits according to study procedures
- Abstract data from existing databases
Staff Management:
- Responsible for working with Principal investigator to determine positions that would support the strategic goals of the Research group
- Manages the creation job profiles, hiring, and onboarding of staff
- Performs and engages staff in annual performance reviews
- When required, performs disciplinary, including terminations, actions
**Qualifications / Requirements**:
- Bachelor Degree in Psychology or a related discipline
- 3-5 years of related experience; minimum 2 years of experience as a research coordinator required. Background in clinical trials preferred
- Knowledge of University policies including submission of projects to ethics boards
- Knowledge of University legal teams and creation of data sharing agreements
- Experience in an Unionized environment an asset
- Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects
- Fluent in English; excellent communication skills
- Computer literacy MS Windows, Word, Excel, MS Outlook and MS Access
- Familiarity and demonstrated proficiency with SPSS, REDCap, and Qualtrics
- Strong leadership skills
- A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical to success
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
- Effective communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Effective multi-tasking skills
