**Department/Unit/Program Description**

The Ross Memorial Hospital (RMH) Laboratory is provincially accredited by the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare and provides the following onsite services: Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Phlebotomy and Electrocardiograms. In addition to the onsite services, RMH has partnered with other Ontario Laboratories such as Public Health, Dynacare and Peterborough Regional Health Centre, to facilitate a larger scope of testing.

The laboratory is committed to the provision of a quality laboratory service that ensures delivery of clinically relevant, accurate and timely diagnostic services. The welfare of the patient and respect for the dignity, privacy and independence of the individual is paramount at all times. The laboratory supports the hospital-wide vision to be leaders in the development and delivery of a dynamic and integrated health care system by establishing excellence, efficiency and quality in all areas of the quality management system.

**Position Summary**

As the Manager of Laboratory Services, you will be accountable to the Integrated Director of Diagnostics for facilitating clinical excellence, strategic development, administrative leadership and resource management for the delivery of safe and patient centered quality care. Role supports Lab services at Haliburton Highlands Health Services, to include remote and onsite support.

**Essential Qualifications**
- Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in an acute care setting
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a supervisory/management role in a unionized environment
- Proven ability to successfully contribute to and manage departmental budgets; providing explanation and correction to variances as required.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients and public, establishing respect and credibility through actions.
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal coaching, mentoring, and team building skills that facilitate positive interactions among all members of the health care team.
- Demonstrated contribution to quality assurance initiatives, IQMH and/or Hospital Accreditation.
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with an ability to multi-task in high stress situations.
- Current knowledge of and compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care.
- Must be able to fulfill physical requirement of the job, as per Physical Demands Analysis.
- Valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.

**Hours Of Work**

Must be available for day shift Monday to Friday. Days and hours may change according to departmental requirements.
