Chestermere, Canada Camp Chestermere Association Full time

**Maintenance Assistant at Camp Chestermere**

Camp Chestermere is located 15 minutes east of Calgary in Alberta and is a non-denominational Christian camp. The mission of the camp is to create an oasis of the Kingdom where people encounter the living God. Practically speaking, we do that through summer camps for children and youth, and we function as a guest rentals facility during the rest of the year.

The Maintenance Assistant at Camp Chestermere plays a crucial role in maintaining the camp’s facilities and grounds, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all guests and staff. The Maintenance Assistant works year-round under the guidance and supervision of the Sites and Facilities Manager, assisting in various maintenance tasks, managing cleaning schedules, and supporting camp operations. These responsibilities are to be carried out in a way that honours Jesus Christ. All property staff are expected to represent Camp Chestermere positively and professionally within the community.

Onsite accommodation may be available.

The position demands a strong commitment to serving Christ, facilitating the mission of Camp Chestermere as expressed through our summer camps, and serving guests with excellence. Camp Chestermere is a relational outreach ministry; all property staff must convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and service for guests and staff. Responding to the unexpected needs of the guest in a prompt and professional manner is important and required.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Ensure interior facilities are well-kept and clean for guests (lodge, chapel, gym, accommodations).
- Manage all garbage, recycling, and composting programs effectively.
- Develop, implement, and monitor cleaning schedules, standards, and procedures for camp staff to ensure high levels of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Ensure windows are cleaned on a regular schedule to maintain a clear and welcoming environment.

- Seasonal and Regular Maintenance:_
- Participate in seasonal clean-up tasks, including preparation for summer and winter seasons.
- Perform snow removal and ice management during winter months to ensure safe access to all facilities.
- Participate in pest control activities to maintain a comfortable environment for guests.
- Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance:_
- Perform regular maintenance of vehicles and landscaping equipment (lawn mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws).
- Maintain the exterior of all buildings, including painting, repairing shingles, and cleaning eaves troughs.
- Ensure exterior structures are safe and well-maintained, including docks, target ranges, and sheds.
- Building Systems:_
- Assist in managing and controlling building systems such as heating, cooling, fire suppression, and alarm systems.
- Maintain all electrical and mechanical systems, including changing filters and maintaining heat pumps and heat exchangers.
- Regulatory Inspections:_
- Assist in maintaining records and inspections as required by provincial and federal law and sound maintenance practice. This includes health, fire and safety records, and equipment inventory.
- Stay informed of relevant provincial and municipal requirements related to water management and property maintenance to ensure compliance.
- Collaboration and Support:_
- Partner with other departments (i.e., Summer Program, Rentals and Hospitality, and Food Services) to provide excellent service for guests and support all camp programs.
- Hire, train, and provide effective supervision of summer maintenance staff, optimizing staff schedules to support facility operations and camp activities.
- Ensure appropriate training is given to each employee or volunteer using Camp equipment, whether vehicles, boats, or tools.

- Respond to calls professionally and address requests quickly and efficiently.
- Operate property vehicles safely
