WS Steel is a Tier 1 OEM fabricator with a compliment of ~200 employees. We manufacture both high volume components and large-scale products/ projects across a wide range of industries. We are currently seeking a Buyer (Steel) to join our team

Reporting directly to the COO, the Buyer will work collaboratively with leadership across multiple departments to purchase materials as required to meet production needs. This role is responsible for procuring materials in a timely manner, at the most favorable price, while building and maintaining relationships with key suppliers.

**Responsibilities**
- Placing orders for materials to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
- Monitoring and confirming expected materials shipping dates and pricing.
- Preparing requests for quotes and other vendor documentation
- Resolving any errors on purchase orders as required
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and maintaining documentation required as per ISO standards.
- Relaying information from vendors, including pricing and lead times to leadership.
- Organize, coordinate, and periodically conduct physical inspections of inventory levels.
- Verify shipment contents for accuracy, condition, and quantity.
- Arrange for transportation of materials when necessary.
- Assist with inventory related tasks.
- Any other duties as reasonably required.

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in materials management, or business administration an asset
- Prior experience as a buyer required.
- An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Thorough knowledge of software systems including ERP, excel, etc.
- Strong knowledge of internal controls and financial management
- Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing and contracting techniques and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication / negotiation skills; able to represent the company in a professional manner.
- Able to make sound, well-informed decisions.
- Self-starter, able to work with mínimal supervision.
- Strong mathematical ability

**Working Conditions**
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Able to sit for extended periods.
- Able to work outside year-round to confirm materials as required.
- Office hours are from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Overtime as required.
