**Job Summary**:
A Kitchen Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the smooth operation of a kitchen and ensuring the efficient preparation and delivery of meals. The primary responsibilities of a Kitchen Assistant includes assisting the Kitchen Lead, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and adhering to food safety and hygiene standards. This position is vital in contributing to a positive experience for customers.

**Duties**:

- Assist lead in preparing ingredients for cooking.
- Ensure kitchen areas, including prep stations and cooking equipment, are clean and organized.
- Arrange kitchen tools, utensils, and equipment in their designated places.
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and inform the kitchen lead of any shortages.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in a timely manner.
- Maintain the cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, floors, and other work areas.
- Handle waste disposal appropriately and recycle when applicable.
- Support the serving process by wrapping up to go order
- Deliver prepared to go food to the front of house
- Follow strict food safety and hygiene standards to prevent contamination and ensure safe food handling.
- Adhere to health regulations and maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment.
- Report any malfunctioning kitchen equipment or potential hazards to the kitchen supervisor.
- Assist in the routine cleaning and maintenance of kitchen appliances.
- Work cooperatively with kitchen lead and front of house to ensure efficient operations.
- Communicate any relevant information or challenges to the kitchen lead
- Be open to learning new recipes, techniques, and kitchen procedures.
- Seek opportunities to enhance culinary skills and professional development.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in a kitchen environment or similar food service position is a plus.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects when necessary.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in the food service industry.
- A Kitchen Assistant is an entry-level position in the culinary industry that offers opportunities for growth and advancement. As they gain experience and knowledge, Kitchen Assistants can pursue careers as line cooks, prep cooks, or even chefs in the future.
