**Speech Language Pathologist - 16 MONTH CONTRACT**

**Reports to**: Director of Child and Family Services

**Hours of Work**: 37.5 hours per week with the expectation for flexibility to work occasional evenings and/or weekends

**Wage**: $39.05/hr. - $43.00/hr.

**Location**: Ancaster, ON. 1425 Cormorant Road, Suite 101 will be the home location (travel within Hamilton to work in a range of community and satellite locations required)

**Primary Functions and Responsibilities**:
**Clinical** **Responsibilities**:

- Administration of the Early Words Regional Access Evaluation (RAE)
- Case management and recommendations for treatment/monitoring for children within the Early Words Regional Access system as required
- Transfer of children to more appropriate service systems as needed
- Referrals to other professionals as required (e.g. Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist)
- Assess and provide recommendations to children eligible for Year 1 kindergarten who are not eligible for speech and language services through Early Words/1ers mots as required
- Collaborate on services with partners including but not limited to Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre, public school boards, regional CTC programs, and others
- Provide consultation to Resource Consultants and Early Childhood Educators in EarlyON Centres and designated early learning and care sites
- Participate in early identification drop in clinics as required
- Provide enhancement services/participate in Transition to School meetings to children eligible for school as required
- Deliver parent-based interventions including Hanen Parent Programs and locally developed training as scheduled/required
- Assigning caseload and supervision of Communicative Disorders Assistants as required
- Participate in ongoing Professional Development to enhance skills and support the needs of the system and clients
- Provide services in person and virtually
- Follow processes of the Electronic Health Record used at ASCY
- Maintain accurate written records and complete Reports in a timely manner, as required
- Maintain registration in the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists (CASLPO) and follow all practice requirement therein
- Work as part of a large team, collaborating on projects and services according to the PSL Guidelines from the Ministry of Children Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and as directed by ASCY.

**Administrative Responsibilities**:

- Abide by the operating guidelines for the Early Words Regional Access system
- Participate in the development and implementation of operating guidelines for service delivery to the children served by Early Words/1ers mots.
- Act as a resource to Early Words/1ers mots staff and the public regarding the Early Words intake system and preschool speech and language development and services
- Participate as a contributing member on any committee(s) as designated by the Manager of the Early Words Preschool Speech and Language Program
- Contribute to the Healthy Child Development - Integrated Services for Children Information System (HCD-ISCIS) quarterly and annual statistical reports using data from the central database as requested

**Public** **Education**:

- Contribute to and deliver community preschool speech and language prevention and public education events as requested
- Provide site visits to the EarlyON and designated early learning and care sites in the community to provide public education regarding the typical development of speech and language skills in preschool children and on the services offered by the PSL Initiative as required
- Other duties as identified by the Manager of the Early Words Preschool Speech and Language Program

**Qualifications**:

- Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology
- Registration with CASLPO
- Hanen certification preferred
- Excellent assessment and intervention skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent knowledge of ASCY/Early Words and the Hamilton early years’ community
- Experience providing community-based services
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings
- Professional liability insurance
- Access to transportation and, if applicable, has a valid Ontario driver’s license and carries motor vehicle liability insurance on their vehicle
- Ability to work in a range of community and satellite locations throughout Hamilton
