Dolyn Construction Ltd. is a General Contractor/Construction Manager in Ottawa with over 35 years of experience in the ICI Construction industry.

**Responsibilities**

The Estimator will be called upon to estimate the costs of each project for which the company has decided to respond to a call for tenders, or for those being budgeted for clients or prospective clients.

**The Estimator Will Be Responsible for The Following**:

- Establish / maintain long-term relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and owners. This includes making cold calls to various divisions / trades to keep the Swiftender database current.
- Prepare Proposals / Pre-qualifications for acquiring new work / new clients
- Analyzing Plans / Drawings, Front End Documents, Specifications, Addendums, and RFT documents to create a Work Breakdown Structure
- Coordinate tasks with the Project Managers
- Participate in the mandatory job showing
- Complete the requisite bid or submission documents, the summary schedule, and approximate quantities
- Discuss with team, working methods to be applied, risks, and constraints
- Establish the costs associated with the bid and special conditions
- Ensure the flow of project information is maintained and documented
- Organize the estimating department to ensure that the proper procedures are in place to allow a smooth bidding process

**To Be Successful in This Role, You **_**Must**_
- Have excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written as you will be spending most of your time on the phone with Trades and or consultants.
- Hold a college diploma in engineering or related field, or a bachelor's degree in engineering (an asset)
- Have a minimum of 2 years full-time experience as an Estimator for fit-ups, new construction, both ICI and Multi-Residential, in Ottawa
- Have the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Have the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner with _detail-oriented_ accuracy
- Have ability to read and fully understand all plans/drawings and specifications, and all other technical documents
- Have excellent computer skills: Windows environment, MS Project, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Procore and Swiftender an asset
- Have construction related Health & Safety training - MOL4 step, WAH, and WHMIS 2015 (will be provided if necessary)
- Have the requisite PPE - fitted hard hat, steel toed boots, and Hi-Viz vest
- Possess a valid driver's license and own a reliable vehicle.
- Possess a valid Reliability security clearance with the ability to obtain Secret security clearance
