**Recreation Supervisor**

Taboo Muskoka is hiring a Supervisor of Recreation. Taboo Muskoka is a privately owned Resort and Golf Operation whose mandate is to 'Create happiness by offering incredible Muskoka experiences to our guests and team." The Recreation Team, plays a key role in creating those incredible experiences.

In this supervisory position, you will assist guests with recreation needs and requests including leading guest activities, issuing equipment rentals, maintaining cleanliness and proper working order of the recreation building and adventure centre, pool areas, tennis courts, beach area, etc. You will assist the Recreation Director and Manager in creating programming and planning the recreation activities for Resort leisure and corporate guests and take an active role in directing and assisting staff during daily operations.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include**
- Supervision of Recreation staff and their duties
- Assist with scheduling, training and communicating with Recreation staff as needed
- Assist Recreation Director with recreation program development and implementation
- Encourage, recruit, register and schedule guests to participate in recreation activities;
- Possesses thorough knowledge of all dates, times, pricing and descriptions of all resort activities, events offered, as well as those of off property;
- Promote a fun and relaxing atmosphere and communicate applicable rules and regulations;
- Possess a clear understanding of all operations and procedures that take place at the Recreation/Adventure Centre desk, including but not limited to: taking and verifying guest activity reservations, issuing and filing liability waivers; verifying guest room and other guest information;
- Detailed preparation of incident reports and other required resort documentation;
- Collecting used/soiled pool and beach towels;
- Folding and replenishing clean pool and beach towels;
- Ability to clearly understand resort trails and locations;
- Ability to clearly understand and perform cash, credit/debit transactions;
- Ability to use creativity and quick thinking to handle and accommodate rare or difficult guest requests;
- Promote and sell retail items;
- Ability to effectively to record and distribute departmental communication to other resort outlets, specifically Front desk/guest services;
- Weekend availability as well as ability to work some Holidays (when resort is open);
- Opens and closes the recreation office and building.
- Cleaning recreation areas, keeping equipment organized.
- Assist with trail maintenance in all seasons. Hiking and skiing trails.
- Ensure equipment is in good condition and repair.
- Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying your manager.
- Inspects and performs light maintenance.
- Performs related duties as assigned or apparent
- Problem-solve on the spot

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills)**
- Valid Ontario G class Driver’s License;
- Completion of high school or equivalent - Minimum age 18;
- Dynamic and positive personality interested in working with adults, corporate groups and families with young children;
- Previous guest service experience an asset;
- Certified in 1st Aid training as asset;
- Experience in handling cash, credit and debit transactions;
- Must have experience supervising and training staff;
- Excellent interpersonal skills such as empathy, appreciation, collaborative thinking, active listening skills, and work ethic.

**PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/Requirments**
- Indoor and outdoor environments; trails, water, Summer, Winter, dirt, bugs, rain, snow.
- Depending on the day and weather conditions of the job will change, long exposure to various outdoor elements isn’t consistent but at times is needed.
- Ability to lift upwards of 30 pounds, carrying ice buckets or stumps of wood. This would be less than 10% of the time. Most lifting is with another person and transport is usually done by golf cart;
- Standing for long periods of time;
- Bending, twisting, crouching, using hand, arm, leg, and back muscles for cleaning, folding towels and distributing rental equipment.
