A sunset program is a specific type of funding arrangement characterized by its limited duration and external source of funds. These programs are not intended to be permanent and are typically associated with specific projects or initiatives. If a program is designated as sunset-funded, the period of employment in such programs does not count towards the three-year cumulative working period. This provision allows departments to manage temporary projects without the obligation of converting term employees to indeterminate status.

- Supports the scientific and operational requirements of projects, and works with Research Leads, Managers, and engagement staff in responding to project needs such as licensing and acquisitions.
