Dance Accompanist

**Purpose**:
This position is responsible for providing musical accompaniment (piano and/or percussion) for academic activities including studio classes, workshops and performances in the Department of Dance.

**Education**:
BA or BFA in Music Performance (Piano and or Percussion) or equivalent professional experience.

**Experience**:
Professional experience as a dance accompanist for modern/contemporary and ballet classes is an asset.

**Skills**:
Professional piano and/or percussion ability is essential. Advanced skills in sight reading and improvising and an ability to improvise in different and irregular time signatures and phrasings. Some familiarity with historical classical and folk dance forms (e.g. waltz, mazurka, polonaise, etc.) is preferred. Organizational and time management skills including setting priorities. Oral communication skills, including ability to provide information in a clear and concise manner. working cooperatively, courteously and effectively with people.
