**WHO YOU ARE**:
- Ideally you are a student or recent graduate from a Fire / Police / Paramedic services program.
- You are looking for Full or Part Time work over the summer.
- You are able to stay calm in the event of a fire/medical emergency and manage the situation.
- You are physically capable of working long hours (8-12 hrs shifts) standing and walking without the need to sit down or rest.
- You are able to communicate effectively with others to proactively prevent hazardous situations.
- You are looking for some great safety work experience to add to our resume, while earning a great income.
- You have reliable transportation to and from work sites.
**WHAT YOU WILL DO**:
- Firewatch Officer's primary duties involve ongoing proactive inspections and patrols of assigned work areas for potential fire risks or leaks before, during and after the workday.
- Key skills include understanding safety procedures and how to implement them.
- Maintain safety features, such as fire extinguishers and alarms and provide guidance / feedback to onsite personnel in terms of potential risks.
- Vigilant oversight of all on-site employees when doing hot-work
- Maintain the work area to ensure that fire hazards are eliminated
- Complete employer specific paperwork to document and record hot-work conditions
- In the event of an emergency incident the officer will be responsible for notifying and coordinating with emergency services.
- The ability to complete the online safety orientation prior to and attend an in-person Firewatch course.
**WHAT YOU BRING**:
- A basic understanding of safety procedures and how to implement them.
- Entry level experience / training with Firewatch / fire suppression
- Exposure to the construction / industrial industry would be a benefit
- Any experience in coaching / guiding others on what to do
- Additional relevant training (WHMIS, WAH, First Aid, CPR & AED, etc.)
- Preference will be given to individuals with EMS or fire services training. A valid Standard First Aid, CPR & AED certificate is required. Level 1 Paramedic is an asset. Technical Rope Rescue, Confined Space Entry or High Angle Rescue training (preferred)
- A positive attitude, outstanding communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and must be able to work within a team environment as well as without constant supervision.
- Refresher WHMIS, Working at Heights, Fire Watch and Fire Safety training will be provided.

**Salary**: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 12 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Overtime
Supplemental pay types:
