The Centre Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operation of the Centre and coordinates the necessary support, resources, supervision and leadership to ensure the provision of a safe learning environment, nurturing care and education to children ages 0-6. They must provide positive leadership that is consistent with our organization’s philosophy and goals. The Childcare Centre Supervisor will also support program planning, work effectively and collaboratively with staff, foster meaningful and responsive relationships with families and children, connect with and contribute to the community, mentor students and educators, and be responsible for various administrative responsibilities.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities as it relates to:
Operations:

- Maintaining a healthy physical, emotional, and social learning environment
- Ensures and facilitates the smooth functioning of all aspects of the Centre in order to best serve children and families
- Maintains operation of the Centre within the approved budget, in consultation with the Centre Director
- Markets the centre to prospective families by answering enquiries and providing tours of the centre
- Responsible for ensuring that all relevant legislative requirements are met with 100% compliance, including Children and Family Services/Daycare licensing, Public Health Department, Fire Department, Municipal by-laws, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Labor Relations/Employment Standards, Freedom of Information and Privacy Act;
- Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Centre Director and/or Childcare Management Team

Staff:

- Provides supervision, leadership and support to all centre staff
- Provide constructive and supportive feedback and input through mentoring with the educators
- Support Educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
- Consults, supports and provides guidance to childcare professionals in evaluating and revising children’s programming and completing developmental checklists as required
- Coordinating and attending professional development opportunities, open houses, and parent-educator discussions as required

Relationships:

- Develops and maintains positive relationships encouraging parental engagement and involvement through regular communication with families; facilitates or directly provides resolution to parent-program conflicts which may arise
- Ensures regular liaison and communication, as required and applicable, with third parties, including the Centre Director, Childcare Management Team, the Owner, landlord, maintenance services etc.
- Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with various community partners and present a positive image of the childcare centre
- Accurately performs administrative tasks in a timely manner, including daily and weekly reports and records.
- Is an active, contributing member of the Childcare Management Team, providing input on policy and other matters affecting the agency.
- Communicates key messages on decisions made by the Childcare Management Team to centre staff on an ongoing basis.
- Represents the agency by participation on committees in the community and is an ambassador for the Centre in the broader child care community
- Must have an Early Childhood Education diploma and be registered in good standing with the College of ECEs.
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Supervisor/ Centre Director or Assistant Director in a childcare centre/ early learning program, managing a large team
- Working knowledge of the current Employment Standards Act, CCEYA, current Canada Food guide, How Does Learning Happen? and Public Health regulations regarding Child Care Centres
- Must have a valid First Aid & CPR Certificate level C
- Must have valid and up to date immunization record
- Must have valid Food Handler Certificate within two years of expiry (or willing to certify prior to employment)
- Criminal reference check for Vulnerable Sector (dated within 6 months)
- Excellent organization and multitasking skills
- Excellent relationship building skills with children and educators
- Proficient in Google Docs, Gmail, and Internet navigation
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills

**Experience**:

- Leadership: 1 year (preferred)
- Childcare/ Early Learning: 5 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:
