Bartender/server

**SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE**
To serve beverages and/or food to the guests in a friendly, courteous and timely and manner, resulting in guest satisfaction and in accordance with licensing legislation. Also, to prepare beverages for other servers to supply to guests.
**MAIN DUTIES**
1. Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar daily. This includes requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, glassware, straws and stirrers and condiments.
2. Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily, ensuring quality.
3. Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promote and document orders for drinks. Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
4. Abide by all Provincial, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
5. Input orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
6. Receive cash from guests, make change, verify validity of charges, record charges, and ensure vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all transactions.
7. Locks up and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank.
8. Collect/wash glasses and clear dishware.
9. Proficient in fast and professional service of beverages in accordance with legal requirements and property policy.
10. Perform table service as required.
11. Competent in the use of the till ensuring accurate charging/processing of all items.
12. Recognize and promote profitable brands of drink and take every opportunity to sell a “double” measure/repeat drink in order to contribute to the achievement of revenue targeted for the department.
13. Maintain the cleanliness of the bar and table/seating area in accordance with cleaning schedule.
14. Assist on banqueting bars as needed/requested.
15. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
16. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
**REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
1. Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.

4. Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check.
5. Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons.
7. Must have the ability to communicate in English.
8. Always maintain a professional appearance and manner.
GENERAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To adhere to all matters relating to hygiene, health, safety, emergency procedures and the Property Crisis Communication Plan.
2. Greet or acknowledge all guests employing the Ten Foot Rule.
3. To carry out any reasonable request.
4. To provide exceptional customer service.
5. To work and communicate in a professional and ethical manner.
6. To be a “salesperson” by active promotion of property facilities and company/property specific promotions.
7. To assist with team member orientation/training within the department.
8. To maintain standards of punctuality, uniform and dress code.
9. To be aware of and comply with hotel policies and procedures.
10. To comply with WHMIS regulations and all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
11. To attend meetings as requested and to recognize the importance of contributing new ideas and initiative to the overall success of the operation.
12. To keep your work area clean and tidy.
13. To ensure the use of personal protective equipment as appropriate.
14. To contribute to the security of the building, company assets and guest/co-worker safety with full adherence to security procedures with proper handling of keys/cash as appropriate.
