The City of Abbotsford’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is looking for a seasoned professional to join their team as an Urban Forest Planner. Reporting to the Parks Planning Manager, you will support the short-term and long-term planning and development of programs and strategies to support the City’s Urban Forest Strategy.

The work involves policy analysis and development, strategic planning, the preparation of various types of reports and studies, public presentation and the provision of technical advice to customers inside and outside the organization.

The incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgement and action within department policies and recognized guidelines of the profession and discusses unusual problems or policy matters with the manager.

**In order to be considered for this position you must have**:

- Degree in Forestry, Earth Sciences, Landscape Architecture or other related discipline.
- Five years of urban forestry experience, including at least one year of planning or development related work.
- International Society of Arboriculture Certification
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $47.10 to $55.38.
