**Role Responsibilities**:

- Coordinates the operations and maintenance of a geographic information system (GIS). Make sure geodetic and cartography systems are maintained and periodically upgraded. Review and endorse geographical and cartographic data, records and base maps.
- Works closely with the Forest Resources business unit to support operational planning activities, general development plan submissions and consultation to obtain Government approvals required for forestry operations.
- Maintains data integrity and ensures timely updates for the creation and use of dashboards as well as other reporting requirements.
- Report and prepare analysis of data.
- Provide information and comments on suitability during approval process for database specifications to ensure all agreed standards and protocols are followed and data integrity is preserved. Maintains these databases once they are implemented.
- Creates maps and associated products (data basis) as required by the Woodlands Department.
- Field visits on occasion to gain understanding of Al-Pac field operations for which data is being collected.

**Role Requirements**:

- Diploma or Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or a B.Sc. in Forestry or a Diploma from a recognized Forestry school (must be eligible for professional designation).
- Experience working in the forestry field.
- Considered an asset:

- Experience with pertinent Government of Alberta Forestry regulations & policies.
- Understanding of Alberta’s operating ground rules and approval requirements to harvest timber.
- Self-motivated individual who can work independently and, in a team, to achieve predetermined goals and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to excel and be flexible in high pressure environments is essential.
- Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
- Keen analytical skills related to data management for the purposes of providing data driven decisions as well as experience developing, negotiating and managing new and existing contracts.
