**Position Summary**: Responsible for the production and pre-preparation of specific foods and nourishments depending on the assigned job. Cook must adhere to the menu’s, in order to ensure consistency throughout. All food is handled with care and properly prepared and stored. Maintains the sanitary condition of the production area as well as the individual work areas.

Ensures that all health and safety standards are met and continually reinforced. All equipment is maintained in good, safe working order. Works in a safe manner and promotes the safety of all co-workers, Sisters and visitors.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Ensure the efficient preparation of food under the supervision of the head of the department; this includes all catering functions as well as nourishment menus.
- Responsible for daily production of all foods for all 3 meals and snacks everyday
- Vegetables are cleaned and stored with a minimum of wastage
- All other food is prepared according to specification
- Maintains the sanitary condition of the equipment and the working area
- Equipment is cleaned daily. Floors are always kept clean
- Fridges are cleaned and tidied on a regular basis
- Individual work areas are cleaned daily
- Put away and rotate stock when delivered by suppliers
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:
**Formal Education**: Minimum requirement grade 12. Food Service Handlers Certificate required. Formal education (Red Seal) as a cook is recommended.

**Training & Experience**: Three (3) years related experience and must be able to function with mínimal supervision.

**Skills required**: Knowledge of food production and Culinary Skills

**Physical Requirements**: Continual standing. Repetitive tasks

**Working Conditions**: A uniform or equivalent is required for this area including footwear. Kitchen environment

**Immunization Requirement**:Completed COVID vaccination

**Job Type**: Casual
