Maintenance Technician, Handyman

Do you have strong organization skills, great communications skills, and take pride in your work? If so, we are currently seeking an experienced **Maintenance Technician/Handyman** to join our team

**Responsibilities include, but not limited to**:

- Basic grounds landscaping, as necessary
- Various maintenance and cleaning throughout four properties (exterior grounds, sidewalks, parkades, loading bays)
- Assist with the preparation of vacant and available units, performing necessary hands-on maintenance tasks to make ready for occupancy
- Assist with clearing snow from entrances, driveways, and sidewalks, as necessary
- Complete minor electrical repairs, as necessary (ie. light switches, outlets, installation of light fixtures)
- Complete minor plumbing repairs/installations, as necessary. (ie. faucets, toilets, unplug drains/toilets)
- Complete minor drywall repairs, as necessary
- Painting and general repairs (grouting, floor repairs, door repairs, and door installations)
- Basic carpentry and cabinetry repair work, as necessary
- Conduct walkthroughs of building(s) and ground(s) and action any minor problems
- Conduct daily inspections of mechanical and electrical equipment located within the building, including roof top equipment, sprinkler systems, elevator machine rooms, electrical rooms, and any other equipment
- Update and maintain all necessary maintenance records
- Assist with and perform preventative maintenance to all building equipment and systems
- Familiarity with power tools and other equipment
- Other duties, as necessary

**Required Knowledge and Skills**:

- Minimum of 5 years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, and basic plumbing and electrical
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; completion of an applicable technical training program, desirable
- Demonstrated carpentry and painting skills with at least 3 years’ experience
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC
- Mechanically adept, knowing how to safely use tools and equipment
- Criminal background check, required
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License, with an acceptable drivers' abstract
- Able to supply their own tools and safety equipment
- Excellent English communication both written and orally
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent organization skills
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job and in good overall physical health
- Landscaping experience considered an asset

**Hours of Work**:Monday - Friday: 8am to 4:30pm, additional hours may be required in order to fulfill job duties. Some travel may be required from time to time. Compensation to commensurate with experience.
