Western Oil Services Ltd. (WOS) is a privately held, full-service contractor based out of Langley, BC with active projects throughout BC, the Yukon and Northwest Territories. We are looking for a full-time Mechanical/Electrical Estimator at our office in Langley. The Mechanical Estimator is accountable for the preparation of labour and material estimates for bid/tender inquiries received by WOS, for the installation of fueling systems, back up power equipment, lube equipment, hoists and vehicle washes.

**Job Requirements**:

- Reviewing proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work
- Preparation of take-off of material quantities, identifying subcontracted work in bid tendering process
- Tender review, quote generation
- Preparation of cost estimates
- Coordination of materials with vendors and subcontractors
- Identifying qualified subcontractors, price negotiation
- Troubleshooting cost discrepancies
- Preparation of tender submissions including sub-trades, material, labour, pricing, overhead and profit; meeting contract deadline submission requirements
- Preparation of RFQs
- Maintain and update estimate labour rates and charge out rates
- Monitors the cost of work and prepares analysis reports for the Estimating Manager
- Carries out calculations (e.g. areas, weights, lengths, capacities, etc.) to form the basis for estimates and uses knowledge of Safety Regulations and Fire Codes to determine appropriate dimensions, materials, and equipment, if not specified
- Provides management with summaries for estimated labour and material and overviews of work content, including work requiring special consideration regarding complexity, time requirements, and non-availability of products or services

**Skills & Experience**:

- 5 years’ experience in mechanical estimation
- Demonstration of exemplary business ethics, integrity, confidentiality and honesty in all situations
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with sub-trades, suppliers and clients
- Customer focused, excellent problem solving and timely decision making skills
- Understanding of tender components and requirements
- Functional technical skills and intermediate abilities in Microsoft Office; Word and Excel
- Demonstration of exemplary business ethics, integrity, confidentiality and honesty in all situations
- Excellent communication skills in the English language, both verbal and written, including knowledge of correct marine terminology
- A strong sense of customer service orientation
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, problem solving, decision-making, negotiating, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management and works well under pressure

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
