**FINANCIAL CONTROLLER**

**GENERAL**:
Bri-Chem has established itself, through a combination of strategic acquisitions and organic growth, as the North American industry leader for the distribution and blending of oilfield drilling, completion, stimulation, and production chemical fluids. We sell, blend, package and distribute a full range of drilling fluid products, cementing, acidizing and stimulation additives from 26 strategically located warehouses throughout Canada and the United States. We have been operating in Canada since 1985 and expanded into the United States in 2011 and as a result of the increasing market demand for oilfield chemicals we have experienced significant market penetration within the North American oil and gas industry.
**OVERVIEW**:
Reporting to the CFO and collaborating with the Operations Controller, the Financial Controller is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of timely, useful financial reporting, maintenance of accounting records, statements, and chart of accounts for all entities. In addition, this person ensures the corporate accounting policies and procedures are followed and adhered to. The Financial
Controller also assists in the coordination of Company audits and reviews, financing, and budget management functions.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The Financial Controller’s main responsibilities are broken down into four main functional areas as follows:
**1. General Management Accounting**
- Oversee the accounting operations of all subsidiaries, with emphasis on control systems, transaction processing and policies & procedures
- Responsible for coordinating, reviewing, and filing all taxes, including Local, State and
Federal income, property, and sales taxes
- Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements for entities
- Facilitate capital acquisition process and track capital spending
- Assistance with preparation of operating & capital budgets
- Investigate and set up new sales tax, personal property tax, and payroll accounts for new states as the company grows
- Calculate monthly sales commissions
- Follow and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure the Company’s assets are safeguarded
- Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvement
- Preparation, review, and authorization of journal entries
- Review bank accounts and statements
- Liaise with ERP consultants and troubleshoot any issues
- Other duties as required.
**2. Cash Management**
- Prepare & report 13 week rolling cash flow
- Oversee treasury functions, including monitoring of daily cash flow and liaise with the bank on daily transactional issues
- Oversee weekly disbursement payments, approve payments, and communicate cash needs
- Review and approve payroll for all entities
- Liaison operational and capital requirements between operations and corporate finance office
- Other duties as required
**3. Financial Reporting & Analysis**
- Liaise with financial external ABL Auditors
- Liaise with Auditors during the quarter review and year-end audit, when required
- Preparation of working paper files - monthly, quarterly, and yearly
- Monthly bank borrowing base and covenant reporting
- Provide operational financial reports as requested by operational management
- Prepare comprehensive financial analysis on inventories, customers, margins. Make recommendations for improvements based on financial analysis
- Prepare monthly reports for CFO
- Assist in the Company’s financial planning and budget management functions
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against prior periods and budgets
- Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations
- Preparation, direction and review of inventory count process and policy, conduct physical counts and oversee monthly reconciliations. Provide recommendations for improvements
- Lead the month end operational review of financial information process with comprehensive discussion and analysis on operating results
- Preparation and presentation of financial materials at semi-annual operational meetings
- Other duties as required
**4. Administrative Management**
- Comprehension and administration of financial policies
- Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate department staff
- Develop Key Performance Indicators for staff as well as divisional performance matrix that align with Corporate strategic objectives
- Mentor staff to ensure forward development and progress through increased roles and responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the finance department
- Ensure compliance with local, and federal reporting requirements
- Liaise with insurance broker to ensure annual renewal and mitigate insurance risk in the US divisions
