Morningstar Golf Club, a premier year-round golf course on beautiful Vancouver Island, is located in Parksville, a seaside community about 25 minutes north of Nanaimo. The Les Furber designed course was built to offer a fun challenge for golfers of all skill levels. The fairways and greens have been carved out of a natural woodland area with sloping fairways, rolling undulations, well-conditioned greens, and strategically placed bunkers.

The surrounding Oceanside community provides residents with the perfect balance of city-like amenities in a smaller town setting. Great schools, shopping, arts, and a myriad of year-round recreational opportunities ensures residents of all ages can thrive living on the spectacular west coast.

We are seeking a motivated and visionary **Head Professional** who will be a key member of our leadership team while managing and directing Morningstar Golf Operations. Our Head Professional will assist senior management in realizing our vision as a top-level golf experience and will be instrumental in developing staff, implementing a variety of initiatives, expanding our market, and meeting our financial goals.

**Our Head Professional will be responsible for**:

- Forecasting, planning, managing, and reporting the Golf Operations annual budget
- Communicating and working closely with the Leadership team toeffectively manage and promote events and to ensure other teams (e.g. Course Maintenance and F&B) are able to support golf events successfully
- Initiating, organizing and overseeing golf events and programs including Women’s and Men’s Nights, Interclub competitions, Charity Pro-Ams, corporate golf events, etc.
- Organizing and running our Junior Golf Program(s)
- Hiring, training, scheduling, and motivating all members of the Golf Operations team including Golf Shop Attendants, Player Assistants, Starters, and Outside Services
- Planning, purchasing, managing, and reporting annual Golf Shop inventory, updating and managing inventory using our POS system (Lightspeed) and effectively merchandising the shop and training and incentivizing staff to achieve sales targets
- Providing golf instruction and fitting clubs for a variety of golf abilities demonstrating knowledge of current and effective instructional methods, technologies, and golf equipment
- Initiating and supporting member sales, integration and retention assisting in the creation and maintenance of a positive club culture and building strong relationships with members and guests
- Supporting traditional and social media communication and marketing by providing content and media to inform and advertise Golf Operations and club events and activities
- Implementing, enforcing, and maintaining all policies, programs and plans as established by the General Manger
- Maintaining and promoting a respected and professional image that represents the Morningstar Golf Club brand and reputation within the club, community, and golf industry

**Our Head Professional will**:

- Have experience at a top-level golf club with a background in both private and public settings an asset
- Have a proven track record of strong team leadership with experience hiring, training, motivating, and supervising staff in various Golf Operational positions
- Have demonstrated an excellent ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with members, guests, staff, and leadership groups
- Have a vision for Golf Operations that is inspirational, innovative, and contributes to the brand, culture, and overall success of a club
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills being able to set priorities effectively in a busy work environment and being able to meet goals on a daily, monthly and annual basis
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill with current technologies - golf, sales, and communication

**Our Head Professional will have the following qualifications**:

- Class A Golf Professional in good standing with the PGA of Canada
- Proficient with club management software (e.g. Lightspeed, Golf Genius), and Microsoft Office software - experience with website, social media content and media creation an asset
- Demonstrated business acumen with a drive to not only develop current revenue sources but to establish new ones

**Compensation and Benefits**
- Commensurate with experience and qualifications - The salary will be a minimum of $70,000 plus a bonus structure negotiated and based on the bottom line success of the golf operation and 90% of personal lesson revenues.
