**The Opportunity**

Human Resources is a strategic partner, an employee advocate, and a change agent. Managing the employee experience is crucial for businesses - from onboarding employees, to finding the best fits for both culture and efficiency, to managing interpersonal relationships, and much more. The Human Resources Department delivers various services to its stakeholders including: Accessibility, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Workforce Planning, Diversity, Learning and Development, Job Evaluation and Descriptions, Performance Management, Labour Relations, Wellness, Health and Safety, Compensation and Benefits and HRIS Systems Management.

**Education **(degree/diploma/certifications):

- Currently enrolled in a recognized College or University Co-op program, preferably in Human Resources Management or a related discipline

**Experience**:

- Demonstrated experience in a customer service and/or administrative role within an office work environment.

**Knowledge/Skill/Ability**:

- General knowledge of HR practices and relevant employment legislation
- Demonstrated ability to:

- communicate written information in a manner that can be understood by others
- exercise discretion and judgment when handling confidential, sensitive and/or controversial information
- interact effectively and courteously with all levels of staff and contacts in a political and community/client service environment
- listen to, interpret and understand information presented verbally
- maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA)
- read, interpret and understand information presented in writing
- work under pressure to meet deadlines and/or peak period workloads that may extend beyond the normal work
- Intermediate interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and customer service skills
- Intermediate organizational and time management skills
- Basic computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word), human resources information systems, interview testing software and the Internet

- Please note that this is a requirement of the position for any new employees to the City of Barrie in accordance with the **Police Record Check Procedure**. Existing employees who have met this criteria will be exempt from this requirement.

**Other Important Information**

**Work Term**:September - December 2024

**Wage**:$18.94 to $25.79 per hour

**Hours**:The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm
