**About the Position**

We are looking for an Infant/Toddler Montessori Educator to join our team, and introduce our young students to Montessori learning. As our school grows, we will be opening up a new Casa Montessori classroom, and thus, growing our team of educators to keep up with the demand.

Ideally, you would participate fully and consistently as a conscientious team member in caring for the children and in the overall operation of the program and centre. At our school, we emphasize team work by sharing the responsibility to care for our school between all of our staff. This means you would participate in the regular cleaning and maintenance of your classroom, playground clean up, and the school’s storage spaces, and the occasional duties of garbage disposal, dish washing, and staff room cleaning.

This would be a full time position from Monday to Friday. There would be the potential to renew your contract for the next upcoming school year based on your performance. As we follow the same schedule as the public school system, you will have PA Days to work on your curriculum, prepare report card statements, attend professional development training and plan classroom activities.

**About Our School and Pedagogy**

We are a Montessori School in Ajax, conveniently located near Salem Road and Kingston Road. Milestone Montessori was established in 2015, and was created based on the values very inspired by Dr. Maria Montessori’s pedagogy as it taught independence, cooperation and self regulation, at each child’s unique pace of development. Our teachers go above and beyond with our students and take the time to assist each child with their individual learning goals.

Our school has a capacity for over 100 students, with 47 students currently enrolled the 2020-2021 school year. We have 4 classrooms in total - 1 Toddler classroom for 18 months to 2.5 years old; 3 of these are Casa classrooms for 2.5 years to 6 year old. Following the Montessori philosophies, we keep our class sizes small and our student to teacher ratios smaller to ensure each child is receiving the attention their education deserves. In our toddler classrooms, we use a 1:5 teacher-student ratio; in our casa classrooms, we use a 1:8 teacher-student ratio.

Montessori education has been growing more popular, due to the engaging learning styles. To keep the students engaged in their learning, we create exciting and educational activities to help foster their desire for knowledge. If you are unfamiliar with Montessori education, but possess your RECE, we would be happy to offer suggestions and advice to help adjust your curriculum to better suit Montessori philosophies. The great thing about working in a Montessori school, is that teachers are there to act as a link between the students and the learning materials available to them - when a child demonstrates an interest in a certain area of work, the Montessori teacher is there to help the child navigate the new challenge.

Montessori is split into 5 different areas of learning: Mathematics, Language, Sensorial, Practical Life, and Culture. Students are given the choice to explore these different areas of learning through the different activities available to them on the classroom shelves. You would be responsible for demonstrating these activities for the students and helping them master the skill.

As parents see the amazing benefits that Montessori education has, more and more are looking into Montessori schools. As our school continues to grow with students, we must continue to expand our team of educators This is why we are looking for an exceptional educator who can create an engaging Casa curriculum for our students and introduce them to the Montessori basics.
