Basketball Coach

Southridge is an independent day school located in South Surrey, BC with 680 students enrolled in Kindergarten through Grade 12. We have a tradition of developing well-rounded students with a balance of knowledge and goodness, inspiring students to go out into the world and make a difference.

We believe athletics acts as a means for our students to develop a deeper connection with Southridge by fostering a sense of spirit and by providing them with opportunities to represent their school. We believe that participation in athletics assists students to develop an appreciation for the importance of life-long physical activity and well-being.

BASKETBALL COACH (TEMPORARY)

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Plan and run 2-3 afterschool practices that combine technical, tactical, and physical components related to basketball
- Determine game rosters
- Implement appropriate offensive and defensive tactics
- Motivate and prepare athletes/team for competitive events or games
- Attend 1 game per week plus 2 tournaments that typically run Friday afternoons and Saturday.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Applicants should have a minimum of three years coaching experience and/or an advanced playing background
- Experience working with secondary school aged students
- Effective interpersonal skills to establish connections with students
- Must be highly collegial and a collaborative team partner
- NCCP and/or Basketball Canada certification considered an asset
