*Job Description: Children’s Pastor* *Start Date*: Jan. 1, 2023 *Type*: This role is full time, actual hours may vary from week to week, as needed. It is expected that you will manage the variability of this average work week. *Location*: Church on the Rock is located in Hamilton, Ontario Canada. We are a portable church for the moment. We own a building with a large property we will be moving into once it is complete. *Reports to*: Lead Pastor *Overview of the Organization*: Church on the Rock (COTR) is a vibrant, young at heart church passionate about reaching and transforming lives on the Hamilton Mountain. Our church is evangelical, Bible-based, pursuing the leading of the Spirit. *Primary Purpose*: The Children’s pastor will be responsible for the evangelism, discipleship and leadership development of children at Church on the Rock. Our target is for children to enter into a relationship with Jesus, grow in that relationship and grow in Biblical literacy. We recognize that parents should be the main provider of Biblical instruction and that the church comes along side of the parents. *Main Responsibilities:

- Oversee (and participate in) Sunday morning nursery, preschool and grades 1-5 - Recruit, train and care for children’s volunteers - Connect with the Youth Pastor for helpful transitions - Provide special events involving children for the church (for example seasonal programs and community outreaches) - Midweek program (could be outreach to community children or mom’s and babies or leadership training for older children) - Work with the summer day camp team - Connecting/training/encouraging parents - Take part in our staff team and the cross-department events *Interpersonal Skills and Personal Attributes*: - A vibrant personal relationship with God with strong Biblical knowledge - Proven ability to work cooperatively with all levels of management, staff and volunteers - Good organizational skills and able to set up systems - Passion and calling to work with children, volunteers and parents - Able to create a fun engaging learning environment - Willing to try new ideas and aware of and open to cutting edge trends *Experience*: - Experience with leading a team based, church, children’s ministry *Personal Commitment*: - Follower of Jesus Christ who wholeheartedly subscribes to Church on the Rock’s Statement of Faith and Partnership Requirements. - COTR considers its reputation with its church family and the broader public its greatest asset. Accordingly, employees are expected to be professional, competent, and ethical at all times. We expect all COTR staff to comply with COTR’s policies as introduced and administered during the course of their employment and to lead by example through seeking to abide by the spirit of our Partnership Requirements. *40 hours a week, with benefits, hourly wage negotiated with experience*

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Mount Hope, ON
